Kahn, David2004
Books
Yardley established the first US codebreaking agency in 1917 & was especially busy during the 1921 disarmament conference, when his work enabled the Americans to gain a diplomatic victory. In 1929 his unit was closed on the grounds that it was unsporting to read what enemies obviously wished to keep secret.
