Join the library

Online membership is available to you for free if you are aged 13 or over and if you live, study or work in Buckinghamshire. This gives you access to all online Buckinghamshire library services. You will need to provide your date of birth if you are registering online.

Once you have agreed to the conditions of membership and submitted the registration form, you will be given a borrower ID number. Use this borrower ID number and the PIN you have chosen, to access the eLibrary and other online services.

If you later decide to change your online membership to full library membership, so you can borrow and reserve physical items such as books, you will need to visit a library in person to collect your library card.

Please bring with you your borrower ID and proof of your:

  • name
  • current address

You will be asked to confirm your personal details are up to date every two years. Confirming your details are correct will renew your library membership for a further two years. You will be unable to borrow eLibrary items until you have confirmed your personal details and renewed your membership. You can do this online by logging into your library account or with a member of staff.

If you already have a Buckinghamshire library card you don’t need to complete this form. If you do not know your PIN, please reset your PIN here

Joining the library in person

If you are younger than 13 years old you will need to join the library in person with a parent or guarantor who will need to show proof of their identity to a member of staff in one of our library buildings.

If you are joining in person you can choose not to provide your date of birth. However, you will be assigned as a general borrower, as we will not be able to confirm your eligibility for concessions and access to age limited services. You can always update your date of birth later if you change your mind. Your date of birth is confidential and will not be shared with any third parties without your consent.

If you wish to print and fill in a registration form prior to your visit to a library to join a child or are unable to complete an online registration form for any reason, please download a printable copy of our registration form here [PDF]. Please take your completed form to a Buckinghamshire library to register and collect a library card with proof of your:

  • name
  • current address
